Happy Daze “The Piano Mix”

This is the second of 2 volumes. This version of Happy Daze is the raw unplugged creation of singer-songwriter Steve Macfarlane and piano playing collaborator Billy Hui. Please also check out volume 1 - the full orchestral version. Both volumes inspired by the words of Liverpool poet Peter Grant featuring 10 new songs penned by Steve Macfarlane and Billy Hui with additional words by Gary Millar. The album’s title is based on Peter’s poem of the same name and Happy Daze the poem became Cherry Blossom the song. There are 2 versions of this album - the original full orchestration version combines the musical talents of Steve Macfarlane, Billy Hui and Steve Wright.

Whereas "The Piano Mix" is a pared down acoustic collaboration of Steve Macfarlane on vocals and Billy on a Steinway D Concert Grand. Both Steve and Billy live in Liverpool, England - home of the Beatles. Steve originally from Greenock in Scotland is now an adopted “scouser” and Billy is British born with Chinese parents. They recently performed for multi million selling artists Neil Sedaka and Michael Bolton. Steve is co-owner of Parr Street Studios (home of Coldplay’s first 3 albums). He is also a Director at one of the world’s largest software companies. Billy is an actor, radio presenter (BBC) and gifted trained musician.

Happy Daze "The Piano Mix" was engineered & produced by Steve Wright with the help of his lovely wife Viv at Y Dream Studios in Wales. Thanks from Steve & Billy to Peter Grant for kicking the whole thing off; Cathy Roberts, Jim Connolly, Billy Butler & Roger Lyon from BBC Radio Merseyside, Joe Riley from Trinity Mirror, Margaret & John Harry, Lyn & Tom Staunton, Steve & Viv Wright, Ken Dodd (for inspiring “Remember When”), Neil Sedaka (for his inspiration) and special thanks to Gary Millar, without whom none of this would have happened.
